Thobela FM’s seasoned news bulletin presenter, Peter Moruthane, has announced that he will be leaving the station as from the 1st of October to pursue a career in corporate communications.
“Today is my last day with [the] SABC. [As] from Wednesday I will be joining the world of corporate communications,” he said.
Moruthane, born and bred in Makgwareng, Mohlaletse, joined the station in 2008 after he completed his BA degree in Media Studies from University of Limpopo.
In an exclusive interview with A re di fefere last year, Moruthane told us that he was studying with the University of Cape Town towards a certificate in Professional Office Communication; this while the petite presenter was working on his Masters’ thesis in Sepedi Language Development and Research with the University of Limpopo.
Moruthane launched his career in broadcast media in 2005 while doing his first year. He joined the campus based station, Radio Turf, before departing for a national radio broadcaster that attracts over three million listeners, Thobela FM.
Over the years, Moruthane has grown from strength to strength, working very hard to make a name for himself.
“When I started my journalism career, I started from bottom being a field journalist. I then worked my way up to current affairs presenter and I’m now a news editor.
“My journey in the media industry has been a very good one and I am enjoying every minute of it. I have learnt a lot and I continue to learn by day,” he said.
Moruthane’s fans could not sit back and say nothing. In fact, they expressed their genuine feelings regarding the departure of their favourite presenter.
