Generations actors risk being fired.

All they want is for the SABC and Mfundi Vundla’s production company to honour the deal made in November last year when the cast of the most watched soapie in the country downed tools.

It was after the intervention of the SABC’s embattled COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng that the strike was put on hold and the actors participating in strike went back to work.

Then, the actors demanded that they sign a three year contract and also that they receive a substantial increase to their salaries.

But today the SABC remains unfazed! Either the actors return back to work with immediate effect or the public broadcaster will compel Vundla to terminate the actors’ contracts.

SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago was quoted in the media as saying “we’ve asked them to come back to work or we will request the production company to terminate their contracts.”

The actors have not pitched to work since the beginning of this week citing the SABC has failed to meet its deadline to respond back to their demands.

“After the first strike we came back to work in good faith, with the understanding that all the issues we’d brought up would be addressed by the broadcaster months ago in March.”

But according to the actors, that was not the case. “We are in exactly the same position we were in last October when we first went on strike. Nothing has been resolved.
