“Menzi Ngubane signs a three year contract with Muvhango: Minnie Dlamini follows.” This is the statement that left tongues wagging and fans wanting to confirm the authenticity of the information.

Even after 4 months the April fool statement was issued, A re di fefere’s search engine still reflects searches about ‘Menzi leaves Generations for Muvhango’ on a daily basis.

But A re di fefere can confirm today that Menzi is not joining Muvhango or leaving Generations for any other soapie in the country. We learnt from a reliable source that Menzi is still contracted to Generations and continues reporting to work at the SABC Hanley studios.

“Never! He (Menzi) is not leaving Generations. He’s a big guy there. His storyline is flourishing and fans love him. Generations and Menzi are synonymous to each other,” our source said.

Our source went further to argue that news of Menzi leaving Generations is nothing but a rumour that will never see light of the day.

This is how rumours of Menzi leaving Generations for Muvhango surfaced. It was on 1 April 2014 and everyone was in the mood of April fool. Muvhango wrote on their official facebook page that:

“As part of the effort to rebrand Muvhango, the producers of Muvhango yesterday finally signed popular Generations actor, Menzi Ngubane to a 3 year contract.

“It is believed that Ngubane informed his bosses at Generations about the move and they requested that he gives then until the end of April for them to finish his storyline but he made it clear to them that he will start shooting with Muvhango from the 1st of April.

“Menzi is going to complete the cycle as he is coming in a part of a new family, The Mkhizes. It is believed that Mini Dlamini will play Menzi’s wife in the new family,” the lighthearted statement read.

But of course all was a joke. As our source has said, Menzi is not leaving Generations. Menzi has also poured cold water on the allegations that he plans on leaving Generations.
