Axed Generations seasoned actress, Nambitha Mpumlwana, is set to return back to the soapie but her fans are alerted not to toast “happy Mawande is back” as her stay will only be temporary.

“Nambitha, as you have heard, she will be back. She is coming to wrap other stories only for 3 weeks because her story line needs a wrap up,” Generations head writer, Bongi Ndaba, was quoted as saying in Sowetan newspaper.

Mawande’s storyline was written off last year amid rumours that Nambitha was hard to work and that she used to delay production.

She disappeared from our small screens in August, leaving her only son, MJ, with all her wealth and not a single brown cent to her on-screen conniving daughter, Noluntu, played by Zenande Mfenyane.

Of late, it emerged that S’busiso Dlomo is MJ’s biological father and the two are currently not seeing eye-to-eye, except for the big secret they share together.

Gay storyline receives overwhelming coverage.

It is also reported that in the coming few months Generations will materialize more on one of its highly criticized gay storylines.

Aaron Moloisi who earned a remarkable public attention through his gay character in After 9 drama series will debut on Generations as Will Hlatswayo- a married man who is sexually attracted to other men.

“In the story I first interact with Senzo in a close way, but possibilities are open that Will may also find himself attracted to Jason,” Aaron told Sowetan.

Aaron’s character will only be a cameo role and depending on his performance and how the viewers respond to him, he might get a call back.

Big opportunity for new talent to land a major role in Generations.

People who’ve always dreamed of landing an acting role in Generations this might be their biggest opportunity.

“We actually going to be auditioning soon for a bigger new character and we need a new face. Not old faces,” said Ndaba.

Generations received wide criticism about employing old faces to bigger roles while overlooking new and starting actors but only recognizing them for cameo roles. The latest old face to be added onto the Generations storylines is Sikhona Sodlaka who plays Priska, previously married to deceased Scott Nomvete.

Sikhona has an enviable CV in the acting industry from all her acting roles in Shooting Stars, Rhythm City, Soul City, Intsika and Montana, A place called home, After 9 and the latest prior to her current job is Muvhango where she played self-possessed Joyce Mojalefa.

Following the media coverage that Mawande will be back on Generations, Nambitha tweeted: “I am truly humbled by the incredible support ensuing from today’s paper. Thank you one and all for the beautiful messages.”
